Dr. Freed is a clinical psychologist specializing in evidence-based treatment for substance use disorders and trauma. He obtained his PhD in Clinical Psychology from The New School for Social Research where he implemented a protocol to enhance the motivation of college students to change substance use behaviors and worked as a clinical interviewer on an NIMH funded study looking at the effects of trauma on the body. Dr. Freed completed his internship at Bellevue Hospital Center and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Addiction Institute at Mount Sinai West working with adults struggling with substance misuse who often had co-occurring mood, anxiety, personality, or psychotic disorders. Dr. Freed is a member of American Psychological Association, International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS), and the Society for Psychophysiological Research (SPR).
