At CMC, we know that one size does not fit all!
We will work with you to design outpatient treatment options that best
suit your needs.
CMC:NYC is our New York City outpatient program. We provide highly individualized, evidence-based treatment for people working through substance use, compulsive behaviors, trauma, mental health concerns, and other challenges affecting their lives.
Located at 519 Eighth Avenue in Manhattan, we give people access to experienced clinicians and a range of outpatient services without requiring them to step away completely from their work, families, relationships, or daily responsibilities.
Our approach begins with a simple idea: one size does not fit all. People arrive at treatment with different experiences, different goals, and different reasons for wanting something in their lives to change. Our role is not to impose a predetermined definition of recovery. It is to understand what is happening, what matters to you, and what evidence-based strategies can help you move toward the life you want.

Outpatient Treatment Built Around You
At CMC:NYC, we do not expect everyone to follow the same path. We take the time to understand what is happening in your life, what you would like to change, and what kind of support is most likely to help you get there.
Our clinicians work with people experiencing substance use and other compulsive behaviors, as well as anxiety, depression, trauma, attention concerns, relationship difficulties, and other mental health challenges. Because these concerns often overlap, we look at the whole picture rather than focusing on one behavior in isolation.
Depending on your needs, treatment may draw from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, Guided Self-Change, Community Reinforcement Approach, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, and other well-supported methods.
Most importantly, we work with you. Treatment is collaborative, thoughtful, and shaped around your goals. If you are not sure what kind of outpatient support would be the best fit, reach out to us, and we can help you think through your options.
THERAPY SERVICES
Our CMC:NYC Day Program
Sometimes weekly outpatient therapy is not quite enough, but residential treatment does not feel necessary or practical. Our Day Program gives people another option.
The CMC:NYC Day Program offers more structure and support while allowing you to continue living at home and staying connected to your life in New York City. It brings the same individualized philosophy we use throughout our outpatient practice into a more intensive setting.
We do not put everyone through the same schedule simply because they enter a higher level of care. We look closely at what you need, what is getting in the way, and what combination of support may help you make meaningful changes.
For some people, the Day Program can serve as an alternative to residential care. For others, it may be part of a larger treatment journey before or after a residential stay. If you are wondering whether our standard outpatient services or Day Program makes more sense for you, contact our team. We can talk through the differences with you.

Science and Kindness Guide Our Work
CMC was built at the intersection of science and kindness, and that idea continues to shape how we work at CMC:NYC.
Science gives us evidence-based tools and strategies to understand behavior and help people change. Kindness guides how we use them. We believe people are more than the behaviors they are struggling with, and we do not think shame, judgment, or rigid labels help people move forward.
Instead, we want to understand why a behavior makes sense in the context of your life. Substance use and other compulsive behaviors often serve a purpose, even when they are also causing problems. By understanding that purpose, we can help you build other ways of meeting those needs that fit better with the life you want.
We also recognize that meaningful change looks different for different people. Your goals may involve abstinence, moderation, harm reduction, improved mental health, stronger relationships, or changes in several areas at once. We start with where you are and work from there.
Support for Families and Loved Ones
You do not have to be the person struggling directly to benefit from support at CMC:NYC.
We also work with parents, partners, spouses, siblings, and other loved ones who are trying to figure out how to help someone they care about. It can be difficult to know what to say, what to do, or how involved to be, especially when advice from different sources seems to contradict itself.
Our family work draws from evidence-based approaches, including Community Reinforcement and Family Training and the Invitation to Change® approach. Rather than relying on confrontation, detachment, or waiting for someone to reach a crisis point, we help families learn practical ways to communicate, support positive change, and take care of themselves along the way.
You can contact us even if your loved one is not ready to seek treatment. We can help you better understand the options available and what you can do from where you are right now.
CMC:NYC and CMC:Berkshires
CMC:NYC is our outpatient program in New York City. CMC:Berkshires is our residential treatment program located in New Marlborough, Massachusetts.
Both programs share the same commitment to individualized, evidence-based care, but they provide support in very different settings.
For many people, outpatient care provides the right balance of therapeutic support and connection to everyday life. Others may benefit from stepping away from their usual environment for the more immersive structure of residential treatment.
There is no single level of care that is right for everyone. If you are unsure whether CMC:NYC outpatient treatment, our Day Program, or residential care at CMC:Berkshires makes the most sense, we can help you understand the differences and consider what fits your situation.
Connect With CMC:NYC
Coming to treatment does not mean handing over control of your life or agreeing to someone else’s definition of what change should look like.
At CMC:NYC, we want to understand you, what you are dealing with, and what you want your life to look like moving forward. From there, we can help you build the skills, support, and strategies that make meaningful change possible.
Whether you are looking for outpatient therapy, a more structured Day Program, help for someone you care about, or simply guidance on where to begin, contact us today. We are here to help you figure out the next step.
