Edelen McWilliams, LMSW is a social worker licensed in New York and New Jersey. She received her MSW from Montclair State University, where she focused her training on substance use, behavioral change, and trauma-informed care. As a therapist, her approach is collaborative and strengths-focused, utilizing evidence-based practices to support each client’s individual journey of growth and change with compassion and curiosity. Prior to joining CMC, she was a therapist in an outpatient community mental health clinic where she partnered with adults and adolescents navigating mental health and substance use concerns, led intensive outpatient program (IOP) groups, conducted evaluation assessments, and supported with case management. Prior experience also includes work with a stabilization program focused on dismantling barriers that perpetuate the cycle of poverty. Postgraduate training includes Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and Integrative Harm Reduction Psychotherapy (IHRP).
From her initial career as an actor, Edelen brings a unique understanding of the change process and of the role mindfulness and creativity can play in healing. Edelen completed her undergraduate studies in English and Theater at Middlebury College and earned an MFA in classical theater at University of San Diego.
