Spiritual Counselor
Joan “Joni” Carron returns to CMCB as the facilitator of our spirituality group, Finding Meaning. She currently serves as the Spiritual Counselor for the Pediatric Palliative Care team at HospiceCare in the Berkshires, where she also spent seven years as a Spiritual Counselor for their hospice program. Her expertise encompasses death and dying, end-of-life care, diagnosing and treating spiritual pain, and grief/bereavement support. Joni brings a calm presence, compassionate ear, and reflective listening skills to help people navigate the deeply personal experience of loss. Her extensive experience includes guiding patients and families through both the anticipatory grief process of dying and the bereavement journey following the death of a loved one.
Throughout her career, she has facilitated grief groups for hospice families and community members experiencing loss. During her time as a spiritual counselor at hospice, she served as both a support person and advisor for the clinical team. Beyond her spiritual counseling work, Joni has been active as a certified counselor in the field of substance use disorder since 1994. Her experience spans multiple treatment models across Massachusetts, California, and Colorado. She has participated in numerous community events focused on overdose awareness and substance use disorder education. Joni was one of the founding members of our Recovery Specialist team before departing to dedicate several important years to palliative care. We are delighted to welcome her back to CMCB, where she will continue her valuable work supporting our community.
