Timothy Johnston is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who earned his Master’s in Applied Psychology from New York University. He brings nearly 20 years of experience in the human services field, beginning his career supporting youth navigating significant behavioral and emotional challenges in residential treatment before working across a wide range of populations and ages — including individuals with intellectual disabilities, anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, and neurodiverse individuals, including those with ADHD and autism. Timothy has also devoted significant time to supporting the LGBTQ+ community, with a particular focus on affirming, identity-informed care.
At CMC, Timothy works as an individual therapist and also with couples, families of origin, and families of choice, drawing on an integrated, trauma-informed approach that includes Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, alongside CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training) and the Invitation to Change model — frameworks that help clients support a loved one through substance use or mental health struggles.
